Joe Martin - Program Director and Huntsville Head Coach

Joe Martin is the owner of Huntsville and Madison Adventure Boot Camp. He teaches all of the Huntsville classes. He has won several awards, including Huntsville's Healthiest Trainer, Huntsville's Healthiest Male, Adventure Boot Camp was voted the best place in Huntsville to workout, and his book The Wellness Code hit the Amazon Best Sellers list. He prides himself on his ability to make exercise fun, safe, and effective for everybody no matter what size they are or what kind of shape they are in. 

Joe had been a lifelong athlete, until one day he woke up and realized he was 50 pounds overweight, depressed, and injured. Deborah Thomason- Harvest and Monrovia Head Coach


Deborah Thomason is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a black belt in karate.  Deborah has worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for collegiate and high school teams.  By designing sport specific programs to maximize athletic performance, improve speed, agility, and flexibility, she has helped athletes improve their fitness and compete at higher levels.  


As a personal trainer and fitness instructor with years of experience working with a variety of clients, she is able to analyze the unique requirements of each individual or team thereby insuring that the right exercise program is developed in line with their needs and goals.


Deborah enjoys helping people become their best self ever.  She motivates with a positive attitude encouraging you every step of the way.  She believes in making exercise fun and effective.


As a single mother of four boys, juggling a career, home and family, she understands the demands of life.  She knows how hard it can be to lose that “baby” weight but with smart training and determination she proves it can be done.  


For fun Deborah loves spending time with her boys and riding horses.  She is passionate about horseback riding and gets a real charge out of herding cattle.  She loves the great outdoors and loves to travel.  Her desire is to live life to the fullest.  Live, Laugh, Love!

Dr. John Spencer Ellis - Support Staff

Dr. John Spencer EllisEach week, over one million people around the world enjoy a fitness program created by John Spencer Ellis. His fitness programs are implemented in the top resorts, spas and health clubs. John is the President of NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association) and the Spencer Institute for Life Coaching. These two professional associations have 45,000 members in 30 countries. John is on the Advisory Boards of the National Health, Wellness and Prevention Congress, Exercise TV, Conference for Healthy Living, Irvine Valley College, Get America Fit Foundation, and is a Fellow of the National Board of Fitness Examiners. He is the author of "How Badly Do You Want It? - Your Ultimate Guide to Optimal Fitness," and a contributor to "Power of Champions." He created Adventure Boot Camp, the largest fitness boot camp program in the world. His signature series of outdoor fitness equipment is used in communities worldwide. John has been continuing his professional education since 1987, and holds bachelors degrees in business and health science, an MBA, and a doctorate in education. He is currently completing a second doctorate in naturopathy. He has fifteen certifications including massage therapy, plyometrics, self-defense, fitness kick boxing, fitness boxing, water fitness, exercise rehabilitation, golf conditioning, Pilates, personal training, clinical hypnotherapy, sports hypnosis, PACE circuit training and yoga. He holds a 2nd degree black belt in kung-fu, has completed the Ironman triathlon, and finished 5th at the U.S. National Biathlon Championships. His medical training includes a license in radiological technology, a medical assisting certification, and training in McKenzie rehabilitation. John was nominated for the Alabama Community College Distinguished Alumni Award.
